“Pleasure is not one of the spoils of capitalism.

It is what our bodies, our human systems, are structured for;

it is the aliveness & awakening,

the gratitude & humility,

the joy & celebration of being miraculous.”

Adrienne Maree Brown, Pleasure Activism: The Politics of Feeling Good

Most people select their method of contraception motivated by a “no”.

No baby, no baby, no baby.

Our capacity & right to say NO to pregnancy is sacred.

However, that “no” does not exist in a vacuum.

It is defined by our desires & what we want to say YES to.

In her work, Samantha Zipporah calls our motivations for avoiding pregnancy The Sacred Yes. Identifying the various ways we want to invest our vital life energies that area not pregnancy or parenting a new child informs us about our purpose & passion in the world. Bringing those desires intentionally into our contraceptive & sexual routines can invokes meaningful, embodied desire.

Avoiding pain & seeking pleasure motivates most human behavior. Seeking sexual pleasure while preventing pregnancy motivates most people who practice contraception, yet pleasure is rarely discussed in contraception instruction.

The term praxis comes from the Latin word for “exercise” or “action” & the Greek word for “action” or “doing.” Praxis is the application of philosophy, ideas, or principles in practical, physical action. A praxis usually involves discipline, habit, ritual, art, & action rooted in purpose.

In this class, we will explore practical, actionable ways to name & embody The Sacre Yes, & develop unique pleasure praxis while avoiding pregnancy with any contraceptive method, with a focus on infusing the data collection & intimacy choices enacted while employing FABMs to avoid pregnancy.

Join us to explore practical, actionable ways to center sexual pleasure & embodied desire while avoiding pregnancy.

Join us to discuss they why & the how of centering PLEASURE while effectively avoiding PREGNANCY.
