Spiritual Dimensions of Abortion
A conversation with Lynsey Bourke & Samantha Zipporah
Friday, November 13th at 10am - 11:30am PT
live audio only Zoom call with recording.
Lynsey Bourke is an abortion activist, counselor, & spiritual practitioner whose work explores the intersections of reproductive autonomy, ancient wisdom, & the sacred feminine. With nearly two decades of experience advancing abortion access across Africa, Latin America, & the United States, she is the founder of Rouge Doulas & Self-Guided Abortion. Her work brings together emotional counseling, somatic practices, ritual, & spiritual inquiry to expand how abortion is understood & experienced. Drawing from psychedelic traditions & her doctoral research at the University of Cape Town, Lynsey is particularly interested in abortion as initiation, transformation, & an expression of personal sovereignty.
Our conversation will explore:
Why have politically pro-choices spaces largely avoided & or even denied the spiritual dimensions of abortion?
What are some commonly experienced spiritual dimensions of abortion?
What mytho-poetic narratives, archetypal energies & specific deities can help us understand the spiritual dimensions of abortion?
How is abortion an initiation?
What is the value of ritualizing abortion?
What role can abortion play in developing spiritual sovereignty?
& more!
